Supermarket Love Guide

Supermarket Love Guide is an experimental image book developed from an occasional thought: If every food has a best-before date, what about human romantic relationships? The whimsical love guide tells four love truths through image-making and creative bookbinding to indicate supermarket waste problems of over-packaging, induced consumption, over-production and plastic pollution. Drawing inspiration from the supermarket environment and its promotion booklet, I designed a busy and colourful visual experience that leads readers to enter a special supermarket from the book. I use different colours, image-making and bending skills to create four scenes in the supermarket. Each theme has an interactive surprise including mix-and-match drink packaging pages, plastic wrap filters, an embedded calendar and overlapping multi-size images. The image book attracts the readers with strong visual stimulation. A series of four t-shirts was developed later with the design of organic typography of each theme.
